Punjab Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Saturday held a review meeting with the top brass of the officers of Department of Food and Civil Supplies and directed to coordinate with Police Department for deployment of teams at Inter-State borders to ensure that no illegal recycled paddy/rice from outside the state is allowed to enter Punjab during the ensuing Kharif Season, to guard against bogus billing of paddy.
Expressing satisfaction at the arrangements for procurement of paddy, the Minister said that the State Government is fully geared up for ensuring another seamless procurement experience for the farmers.
Reiterating the commitment of the Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann to ensure a hassle-free and smooth procurement season for all stakeholders, the Minister asked the top officials to consider all genuine issues of the Rice Millers of the State including the lack of space with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) which has also been raised with the Central Government at the top level.
